Current Geek 97: “Happy Birthday, Airplane!”

Join Tom and Scott as they discuss this: It’s the 30th anniversary of one of my favorite movies of all time, Airplane! To celebrate, watch the classic clip above. When we were kids, my brother and I memorized the dialogue in this scene (every scene, actually) and would occasionally perform it. For our parents. Below is a delightful video featuring the film’s creators and the two actors reminiscing about the jive talk bit. For more, please see “Oh Stewardess, I speak jive!”

And, we get a great reader submission to boot!

If I recall, there was a rated R version of the film. I remember during one of the turbulence scenes a great pair of tits jump across the screen. I was like 8 or 9 when I saw it on HBO.

  2. ScytheNoire says:

I remember when I was younger, maybe around 12, and a friend and I had rented Airplane 2, had started watching it in his living room, and his mother walked into the room at the beginning just as some blondes were walking naked through airport security. In one motion she walked by, popped the tape out of the VCR, and took it to the video store to complain about them allowing her son to rent it.

We purchased Airplane at Wal-Mart a few months back – it is marked as PG, but still has the bouncing boobs in it. The rating seems odd.
