Current Geek 83: “An Error Jordan in judgement…”

Join Tom and Scott as they discuss this: Via CINE-FILE contributor Michael Castelle, we learn of a mind-bending paper written by former Chicago gay rights activist and linguistics professor Michal Brody. She argues that the Michael Jordan/Bugs Bunny flick Space Jam contains several uncanny parallels to the Popol Vuh, the sacred Mayan text detailing the ancient people’s creation account. (The earliest surviving copy of this manuscript is actually in the collection of the Newberry Library.)

And, we get a great reader submission to boot!

Angelina Jolie never naked in a movie?!?! Oh contraire. Foxfire http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116353/ and Gia http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123865/ both featured frontal nudity from Angelina, without CGI assistance.

The Mayan writing is written the way it is to be pronounced with the Spanish pronunciation (since it is in Spanish speaking countries that Maya is spoken and Maya was probably reduced to writing by native Spanish speakers). Therefore you pronounce Popol Vuh as: Popol is P (long O) P (long O) L = popol. Vuh is V (long U) H (is silent) = voo. Popol Voo.
