Current Geek 81: “The time that is given to us.”

Join Tom and Scott as they discuss this: “Director Guillermo Del Toro has confirmed upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit has been put on hold indefinitely because the movie has been caught in a ‘tangled negotiation’ over the future of the MGM movie studio. The film, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s first book in the fantasy series, was reportedly due to begin shooting this summer, but has been mired in delays. Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, who will act as producer on the new film, recently dismissed rumors of trouble with the picture, insisting, ‘It’s not really been delayed, because we’ve never announced the date.’”

    Hello Scott, and Tom,

Thanks for using my submission on the show.

My Star Trek collection started off very small. I generally backed up the files to blank CDs. In 2003 I got a DVD recorder and was able to back them up to DVD. Now the collection is on two DVDs and on an external drive.

The collection has grown somewhat slowly over the last couple since most of the stuff I find on various sites now is all stuff I already have. I still search for new stuff though.

Here is a picture of a Klingon Bird of Prey made from a floppy disk:

And here is a picture of a Lego Captain Kirk with a lirpa from the original series episode “Amok Time.”

Thanks and keep up the good work.

    Mike
