Current Geek 47: “Stardate…EVERYTHING”

Join Tom and Scott as they discuss this: My favorite part is when Marty McFly meets the Star Trek crew and battles the Terminator sometime in the mid 1980s. What’s yours?

And, we get a great reader submission from Todd, and his trickery with Solitaire.

I defy anyone to put Doctor Who in this one!

Aside from the usual screenshot-of-desktop-as-desktop-pattern-then-lock-computer-and-drag-the-computer-locked-window-off-the-screen trick…

…back in the day, I used ResEdit to change the pointy-finger mouse pointer to use the middle finger instead of the index finger in Netscape Navigator on my friend’s computer.

…I created folders with blank icons and named with a single space to hide important-looking documents in.

…I installed a remote keyboard app on a roommate’s computer and typed random characters whenever he worked on a paper.

    RE: Weird time travel tales.
I have to recommend this book Armageddon the Musical (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/49613.Armageddon_the_Musical) It has a time travelling sprout, the 153rd reincarnation of the Dalai Lama – Dalai Dan and Elvis. What more could you want.

The time travel in this is fantastic – almost chaotic. No worries about killing your own grandfather – more about killing god!

If you enjoy the Timelines site, you might want to visit the cluttered and friendly world of the great guru of data presentation, Edward Tufte.

His books are museum-pieces to die for, and I heartily recommend his one-day seminar, cheap at five times the price even if he DIDN’T give you a copy of the entire set for registering. A genuinely bright guy who is here to help you…

    Best
