Current Geek 22: “A green plasticine moment of silence”

Join Tom and I as we talk the death of the creator of Gumby.

Despite Gumby’s positive demeanor, his origins stem from tragedy. When [Art] Clokey was 9, his father was killed in a car crash. He lived with his mother for a while, but when her second husband made her choose between him and her son, Clokey was sent to an orphanage. Fortunately, he was adopted by a good family. But Clokey wouldn’t forget his father, whose head shape – characterized by a cowlick hairdo – would later provide the inspiration for Gumby’s trademark lopsided head.

And, we get a great reader submission from Thomas, and his crazy D&D night.

    Completely Freaked Out!

I was listening to you podcast #22 at work as is my wont. Often podcasts end without me realising it as I am engrossed in my work (it has been known). This was the case with this podcast so my headphones where silent for quite a while when all of a sudden Scotts voice sounds with “Testy testy test your testicles”. Seriously guys – I need a drink to settle me down now!

    Paul the slightly disturbed

Yeah, the “Testing your testicles” bonus track was awesome.

Had to get that new mic working. :)
