Join Tom and Scott as they tackle how the new Dune remake is becoming as epic as Frank Herbert’s Dune series itself. Now that director Peter Berg has been ousted, new director Pierre Morel has decided to throw out Peter Berg’s script entirely, starting afresh with his own ideas and vision. ‘We’re starting from scratch,’ said Morel. ‘Peter had an approach which was not mine at all, and we’re starting over again.’ Morel also reveals that ‘It’s the kind of movie that has the scope to be 3D.’ He’s also keen on sticking to the original material and recognises that he must try to delete the images associated with David Lynch’s 1984 version of Dune from the public’s consciousness.”
And, we get a great reader submission from David, who names his kids some pretty strange names.

Join Tom and I as we talk about: A man serving life in prison for first-degree intentional homicide lost his legal battle Monday to play Dungeons & Dragons behind bars.
Kevin T. Singer filed a federal lawsuit against officials at Wisconsin’s Waupun prison, arguing that a policy banning all Dungeons & Dragons material violated his free speech and due process rights. (Thanks to Robinson A. for sending this along)
And, we get a great reader submission from Ben, who likes to memorize “pie”.

Join Tom and I as we talk about: “NASA is currently working on a personal aircraft that will put jet packs to shame. The Puffin is an all-electric one-man airplane that could be the start of some new and amazing air travel technology. With two prop electric engines, lithium phosphate batteries and a top speed of almost 300 mph, the vertical take off and landing vehicle was originally designed for covert military insertions because it has a lower heat signature than combustion engines. The Puffin would also be super quiet – 10 times quieter than current low-noise helicopters, and since the engine is electric it has no flight ceiling and can fly up to 9,150 meters high, uninhibited by thin air.”
And, we get a great reader submission from Melisa, about the most amazing birthday party we’ve ever heard of on Current Geek.

Join Tom and I as we talk about how odd it is that that R2 flies in the prequels, not just because he never flew int he first three movies, but because he defies the laws of physics to do so. If R2 was flying like that, why would that be a problem? That would be a problem if he was going at a constant speed. I re watched the end of Clone Wars (the movie) and it seems like R2 is flying at a constant speed. Why is that problem? Let me draw a free body diagram.
And, we get a great reader submission from Chris T. and his cop car WoW playing antics.

Join Tom and I as we talk about the far-off year 2010, we’ll all do our work and schooling and library-book-reading on ingenious video screens that can connect to each other from anywhere around the globe.
Of course, in author Geoffrey Hoyle’s 1972 vision, those screens are telephone-based, the size of a large dishwasher—and we use them while wearing practical and futuristic jumpsuits.
Daniel Sinker loved 2010: Living in the Future as a child, and now shares the book—in all its not-quite-on-the-money glory—with the Internets. Wait until you get to the part about “a series of tubes”.
And, we get a great reader submission from Gil who saw this and this at a base in Iraq.

Join Tom and I as we talk about Activision Blizzard having announced that its mega-hit video game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had crossed the billion-dollar mark, after just two months on store shelves–and the entertainment industry’s single-day sales record. That milestone came shortly after it was announced that James Cameron’s uber-blockbuster movie, “Avatar,” had also reached that financial promised land.
And, we get a great reader submission from Josh in Salt Lake, who like messing with computers. NERD!
